Thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund grant awarded in 2018, the urgent repairs to the chancel have now been successfully completed (Autumn 2019). The  project undertook repairs to the chancel roof beams, removed the exterior cement render and replaced with lime render so the building can 'breathe'.  The chancel window was also carefully restored and new rainwater goods ensure the interior fabric remains dry.  Please see St Mary's Repair Project page for more information.

The project activities also included the creation of a Trail route for walkers to download (see our Home page) and the production of a booklet on the history and setting of the church 'Upwaltham: A Short History of A Sussex Church And Its People'  (available at the church or by email).

Many thanks to the PCC for all their hard work in fundraising and helping to keep this beautiful church going for everyone to enjoy.
